What's going on??
No I am NOT dead. Nor is my house immaculately clean.
I've just been very very quiet. As you can tell from my two previous posts I haven't felt very chatty or revealing. As my best friend Anne told me when I was whinging to her..."Honey it's your time of the YEAR!" Yeah, she hit the nail on the head square on. This time of year rattles me and makes me all titchy and dare I saw it witchy (so to speak). It's hard to communicate this on my blog, because well only people I know read this: my in laws, my mother, my best friends (but hey if your a stranger reading this give me a heads up!). I think I have always been afraid to share the real me with those I love....well, it has always ended badly. I thought perhaps I should go to the Confession (secret) blog for that....no hurt for the Birdy right?
But...honestly. Those that love me will love me for always and if they don't ... they have their own brand of problems.
This summer has been a roller coaster ride for me emotionally...thankfully, I never got off of the ride (see coasters are perfectly safe, as long as you don't jump off mid-ride)--but it was a harrowing experience nonetheless. I won't going into details but let's just say it left me raw, wanting to find a hallow tree to live my hermit life. It left me feeling so alone and different that I ached. It's hard to translate these feelings into words, into a blog, to throw them into the world ready to be torn apart and reconstructed and misused.
I was also told this summer that I wasn't who they thought I was (perhaps that's should be--WTF?!). I was also ,by someone else, accused of being a puppet (hello insulting, someone thinks I am that weak willed and mouldable?) It hurt because I thought this person knew me, perhaps was trying to understand me but no. I had "failed" her because I had changed--I think it was more like I wasn't living up to the picture she painted of me. It really fucked with my head for a while, until I understood it wasn't me; it was her and her damned picture of me.
It's my life's mission to be understood, known, and to be told, "No silly you are not so alone," I have to blog, to write. What has stood permanently on my blog is what I really am. Dubh Croi is what I am and "these words I write keep me from total madness." Because folks, I pirouette on the shining edge of madness every day.
Hell my life mission is that someday I will understand what I am.
So that explains the twitchy... Labels: blog, daily rant 4:41:00 PM -- Email --

All Blowed Up
Sorry for the outage this weekend (and Monday). There was a "wee" problem at our hosting site: one of their transformers blew and while there was no damage done to the data, they were without power. Fun fun. Good thing I don't depend on this site for any sort of income. Hopefully my dozen readers come back.
On to news from the weekend. Micci is growing up and has his first loose tooth. Woot! My sister, Kim, is just days away from her "visit." This visit hopefully will lead to her permanently moving down here. (San Antonio is an easier place to become independent than D.C.) The kids are super excited about her visit. For my part: it will very very interesting and I am sure will create all sorts of blog fodder.
We all saw Prince Caspian yesterday. Great movie. And of course it inspired me to start the next book, Voyage of the Dawn Treader. For some reason, it is much more interesting now than it was a years ago when I tried reading it. Shrug.
And better news: I haven't bought diapers in WEEKS!! Woot! And if we do have more kids, I am doing cloth. I am tired of the waste of diapers, not to mention the expense. Lori isn't completely potty trained--she still has accidents every day, but those are out numbered by successful visits to the potty. Woot woot! On being Concise
I am enjoying Twitter. It's an exercise in being concise and witty. (Because all the popular blog kids are...) But I found out that J.'s cell phone can't twitter--poot (it's the cell phone I'll inherit when/if we upgrade). Now even more than ever I am jonesing for an iPhone, or a Treo, or Blackberry. I am much more witty when I am doing errands. Yes, I ought to jot it down in my notebook--but dang it I lost it...I actually bought a new one with bees on it and everything. I don't think it ever made it out of the shopping bag before I misplaced it.
For those of you that don't also read my knitting blog, Birdy's Knits, I have opened up a booth at a local craft mall (to get real world sales in addition to my shop's sales.) about two months ago. Sold nothing until I checked yesterday, sold TWO swiffer cloths! Woot! Now if I could just sell the other pretty things...I'd be even more stoked. Putting yourself out creatively is such a ballsy, naked move. You are asking complete strangers to like things you have created. It's incredibly difficult not to take it to heart and wonder what is the point? But you know me: Birdwell has an ego and although a small part is disheartened--between the ego and the optimism--I'm confident I'll be famouz one of these days. Grin. The occasional sale helps too. Luckily, my dual use stitch markers (they double as earrings too) are burning up in my knitting circle. I feel like a crack dealer for knitters. Yeah sparkling pretty things for your knitting is knitting crack. Heck at the retreat, I was doing deals in the street!
LOL, I just realised I was supposed to be extolling the virtues of being concise. Yes, once again the wordy bastard in me ran all over this blog once again. Well I have twitter for being concise and Dubh Croi for being wordy. Labels: blog, daily rant, knitting 10:17:00 AM -- Email --

Such a joiner!
So finally--I too am tweeting. I heard about it last year. Checked it out--eh I don't have a cell phone, not into chatting and really can I Birdwell possibly limit myself to a mere 140 characters?? Phisto, Quimby: laugh_it _up! Well, I think I am ready. Ha! I may even take over Jamey's cell when we are out and about (which may be coming to me soon if we get a new phone service)--yeah yeah me one of the last people in the free world with no cell phone.
I also like it because it's all bird-like and how can I stay away from that for any length of time?

Anniversary!!
I am terrible with anniversaries--I always forget them--even my own--especially my own.
But today it's special--it has been exactly 8 years since I started blogging with blogger. I had actually started journaling in November two years before when it was a "web geek" thing. And now ten years later---there's are millions of blogs and the word "blog" in every one's vocab. It has certainly changed since I first started. Back then a blog and a diary weren't the same thing. A blog was a collection of links with a personal anecdotes relating to those links. It took me a few months after Blogger started (I was very aware when it did because all my "blog" reads were all talking about it), but I was like I journal, I don't blog. But Blogger and things like it are awesome tools to do SO MANY things. So I joined and have weathered Bloggers ups and downs and sale to Google.
I have chronicled everything here....from car accidents, my first and only love and the trials of pregnancy, child birth and child rearing. Sometimes I haven't been completely on top of things, and my writing hasn't blossomed like I had hoped it would (kids are a great time suck). But I want to thank my wonderful loyal readers--all ten of you!!--who have stuck with me for 8 years.
Thank you Caroline who inspired me to start blogging and to Jason and Derek for keeping me interested. Labels: anniversary, blog 8:29:00 PM -- Email --

Source of Wicked Laughter
In this house it means Lorelei is chucking things out of bins or closets to make a royal mess! This to her is funny--making a mess--just to make a mess.
Bhat bhat BHAT!
And apparently when I use the word "PMS" in my knitting blog the ads that pop up are not the sort I would invite or expect on a knitting blog. Argh. SO now it's "The Mood"--da DUM!!! Labels: blog, Kid Antics 12:36:00 PM -- Email --

Back to Normal
Finally got the server issues worked out over at Birdy's Knits. Whew! Luckily people are there over the weekend to fix this stuff.
My brother is here again...now all ties are finally severed from his ex-wife and doesn't have to worry about her not making car payments. Yea! I also fixed his sweater...as much as I could. Looks good.
My sock is well...I ripped and ripped...and I've re-knitted about three increase rows. Maybe I'll finish it someday. LOL Anyhoo--all knitting can get whooshed back to Birdy's Knits. And this blog can get back to poking fun at my mom, my kids, my husband, and my life.

Are We Being Served?
So we finally figured out what the hell is going on between Blogger and my Birdy's Knits blog. I am guessing sometime between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday night the hosting company I use for Birdy's Knits changed servers and set the FTP to Active FTP--which doesn't work with Blogger...ARGH. Of course we didn't figure this out until today and who knows if they'll be working tomorrow. I am hoping I am not the only one using blogger having this issue with the hosting and they'll rectify it soon.
Getting my own server looks better and better all the time. Care to chip in to the pot? LOL.
So welcome regular readers of Birdy's Knits to Dubh Croi (my dark heart). I left my camera at Anne's house where we had a fantastic Eat and Knit Pot Luck last night; 13 people rocking for 6 hours--yeeeyahh!! So no pics until Monday evening. The heart socks are coming along awesome and I am working the back of the heel and ooo it looks freakin' awesome!
When I do get the camera back--I took some pictures of my mom's very very thoughtful gift to my brother, but ya know I have to be honest--there were some fit issues...my brother wears medium t-shirts and my mom made this sweater about a 3XL. Girls, my single. SWEET brother, put the vest on immediately, loves it and had me "fix" it so he could wear it without too much flappage. Mom, you know I love you and respect you and thank you for teaching me to knit, but I am going to have use this as an example of why gauge matters. Labels: blog, knitting 12:09:00 PM -- Email --

The Numbers
Last night I was counting my Chicken before the eggs were hatched. I figured if I sell everything I put out on the Craft Show on Saturday I could make enough money to make a house payment. My first thought: oooo just think how much yarn I could buy!!!!!!! Since then I have been cycling between I am a godess and well sell everything to I am a hack and will sell nothing. In my godess mood I have been making lists on what I would buy. Yarn well duh that is a given. But what else? Pay up my student loan (that would be smart), or buy a new computer--which might mean just a new hard drive since the computer itself seems just fine...but I would like to buy new programmes!!!!, or reinvest it--which I could fudge to mean NEW programmes--of course beads and clasps, but also knitting software, image editing software.
Any advice?? Know some great inexpensive software. Nothing too fancy, but still wonderful...
I am also tryig to decide if I should park my knitting blog at blogspot were it is right now (inactive--waiting for a grand entrance- or host it at my server. Inane details that I am hung up on.
More questions for my readers: what would make this blog more interesting...still at a loss for my low readership and shy commenters. Also: what to do with a 3 year old who is constipated but refuses prunes?? Labels: blog, daily rant, Kid Antics, knitting 4:18:00 PM -- Email --

Workin'
I got a lot done toward the launching of my new web site today (not that anythign will replace this site--something completely dedicated to my knitting--YES I AM that obsessed.) I still have so much work to do, I feel like crawling under my bed and hiding. But that won't get this mother launched.
For those interested, right before my computer DIED, I created a yahoo group for my new knitting business. It's basically an announcement group. I totally forgot about it in the ensuing chaos. Now that dust has settled, I figured it was time to open up the group to any one that is interested in news about Birdy's Knits, both the new website and blog and the knit wear line.
Birdy's Knits-- the yahoo group
Please join up--make me feel loved. By signing up--you'll get first crack of the new website, blog, and store.
I've also been knitting like a fiend for the craft show on Saturday. I can see lot's of late night in my future. I unfortunately got some new library books today--I WILL resist the urge to read!!.(I just wish I could read and knit at the same time). Labels: blog, knitting 10:49:00 PM -- Email --

Tipping Over
I think I hate myself. It's not like I don't put enough on my plate, now I added one more thing. NaBloPoMo: the goal write a blog post every day for the month of November. LOL. I totally suck at NaNoWriMo, so let's try bite sized right? Right. I think I tried this last year, can't remember--and I think I failed after the third day. Someone go check--get back to me. (Which reminds me I need to do maintainance on the archives)
Let me see--I got homeschooling, knitting business to start up (that's like five things in one huge complex package), craft fair, Christmas, cleaning, reading, writing rash that always need an occasional itching, and Ravelry playing. I know I am leaving something out.
BUT if I stick to this new goal--it'll be a good outlet. Perhaps even increase my readership so I'll get the hate mail I want so much. (All the cool kids get it.)
On Halloween news: kids costume are ready. Pumpkins and candy bought. I even have my costume. Something Anita Blake inspired. Smirk. Labels: blog, daily rant, holiday, homeschooling 10:49:00 AM -- Email --

Woman Issues
For the past two days I have felt like a raving monster. Nothing would be better than a tap of Guinness permanently hooked up to my kitchen faucet and a 25 pound of chocolate that is only for me!
I've been insanely busy and not inclined to post to a blog no one reads or comments on. Not even outraged comments at the (I quote my mother) the disgusting pictures of Jamey's ear wax. My new website is nearly finished--yea!! I am so freakin' scared I can't even articulate it
I have spent so much time on this blog and the products therein--and what if no one visits...really just like this blog. I have spent 7 years on the blog and on this website: 840 dollars of hosting fees alone...not to mention countless hours of cosing and writing. It feels like such a waste sometimes. It just proves that I am not as cool or interesting as I thought I was. But really in the end I write this blog for two reasons: an outlet and a way to communicate with friends and family.
But sometimes it's hard to be "positive" when I read all these wonderful blogs with readership...actual readership with comments and everything.
Whiny--yes. But I am on the rag and vile hormones are coursing though my body making me crazy and aggravated. Labels: blog, daily rant, whine 9:51:00 PM -- Email --

Bloggers to Unionise?
In a surprising turn of events Birdwell is actually blogging in the traditional sense. Bloggers Want To Unionize popped out at me as I was scanning my local news. WTF--why--and how. It's not like bloggers work for any one--it's a hobby! Yes, some bloggers make a difference--they are important grassroots members. BUT it is a choice many make because it's something they enjoy or it's a cause they believe in. Why would it need to be unionised? Why would I want to restrict my speech and my design and my choice to use ads?
I goggled it and found an an interesting article from Forbes. It pretty much expounds on the news link found--but I am still puzzled. It makes no sense. You want health care--dude it's called private insurance. If it's too expensive well then get a paying job WITH health care.
Susie Madrak was quoted as saying "Blogging is very intense - physically, mentally," she said. "You're constantly scanning for news. You're constantly trying to come up with information that you think will mobilize your readers. In the meantime, you're sitting at a computer and your ass is getting wider and your arm and neck and shoulder are wearing out because you're constantly using a mouse."
I think "serious"* bloggers decry the use of hobby when it describes what they do. Sorry to have to say it but I don't think they understand what the word actually means.
Hobby- an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation.
If used as a derogatory term--well then the someone (imaginary someone) has an issue in themselves and down deep feel that perhaps their blog ISN'T worth maintaining. Not saying it is of course--but one can only be offended if one has a sensitivity to the offense.
A very few get paid enough for their blogging to be able to support themselves--these people generation millions of hits because they are very talented writers, designers, and have their fingers on the pulse of what people want to read. Their income comes from two places: Ads or subscribers. Now if you blog for a company--I am not sure if you are a blogger--more like a content manager for said company. (But that's just me) If you want to be able to quit your job to blog--well you better start working on building a readership. Professional blogging (i.e. ads or subscriber-ship) is American entrepreneur-ship at it's best. Personally I would prefer Unions to keep their self interested noses out of it.
If it's legal protection that is desired--there are other ways (less restrictive
ways) to go about it.
* Personally I think "Serious" blogger take themselves too seriously and are elitists. Does a political blogger think knitting bloggers are not serious--because they don't get any information from it--but a knitter would. Furthermore what is a serious blogger--does serious mean designing your own website? Spending x amount of hours blogging? Is it content? Is it the amount of daily hits?
Let's talk about it... Labels: blog, daily rant, politics 12:05:00 PM -- Email --

Me Procrastinating?
I've editing maybe 10 vacation pictures--out of 200 hundred. Yeah baby I am on a roll. And I have yet to compose any travel-log.
But my MS3 looks awesome and I even got over that horrid hump that was row 65. I also have made good progress on my mystery sock (it's a mystery until later).
Bee Fields was released yesterday...I have been salivating this pattern when it was just swatches. But the Knitting Bunnies got to me first...so in addition to those rascals (some of which have deadlines)--I have 2 lacey things on the needles. No more room for the Bees!
Have I mentioned I love Addi Turbo Lace circular needles? They're expensive---$15.95...but wow---it's like good sex. Smooth and satisfying. This might be why I can't put down these lace shawls.
I guess I am trying to say--I'll be finished with the pics someday--maybe--and Labels: blog, knitting, vacation 8:47:00 PM -- Email --

Makin' Me Laugh
This week I've been feeling like crap on some one's shoe. Don't know why (although I expect it's women problems and that just makes it all better, doesn't it???).
Anyhoo--I have found some new blogs that make it all seem better---at least for a few minutes. The first two are medical blogs, the third is a pant pissing funny "mommy blog"--HA!.
Highly Trained Monkey - A Nurse somewhere in America. Monkeygirl has an unfortunate love of LeBron James (I can forgive her that) has very dry sense of humor. I love her Rules.
Crass-Pollination - another Nurse somewhere in America. You guessed it--Nurses makes very funny bloggers. Doctors--eh--not as funny--probably take themselves much too seriously. Nurse K.'s post that made me love all nurses everywhere--I would have just slapped her silly for wasting my time.
Boobs, Injuries, and Dr. Pepper - Crystal, a Mom in the South. I LOVE her and she has made me laugh so hard I cried and almost stopped breathing. She is my new Golden Goddess--move over Dooce--new badass Mother in town. Crystal's post on Motherly revenge had me laughing so hard I could barley catch my breath.
When I get around to spiffin' up my blog--I am adding these ladies to my sidebar. Labels: blog, daily rant 6:10:00 PM -- Email --

Twisted
I suppose someone can be accurately judged by the sort of blogs they read. A personality test of the web age. Sure many of the blogs I read every day are knitting blogs (too many to mention right now--I really ought to add then to my side bar though), but they also include food blogs (most notably Slashfood), Mom blogs (Dooce and The Lactivist), Harry Potter blogs The leaky Cauldron and Countdown to Harry--knitting Harry that is), and web geeky blogs Powazek.com, Kottke, and Blurbomat). Pretty spread out I think in the personality spectrum. Then you get to the two blogs I visit daily and you begin to wonder if Birdy is really just one person. I Blame The Patriarchy-a radical feminist blog and The Superficial-catty misogynist celebrity gossip site that spends 95% of it's space into objectifying and degrading celebrity women. I don't think there are two blogs that are more different. Labels: blog 11:49:00 AM -- Email --

7 years of official blogging
Well WHIBSIB also coincided with my 7th anniversary of having a "blog" on Blogger. It took me several months to decide to hop on the blogger bandwagon--I had always journalled using FTP...a very time consuming process...creating individual blogger posts, archive pages, and updating the main page...that three separate files to update, code, and upload using an FTP software. See oldest archives in that side bar over there. Then I bought my own domain in February 2000 and it only took 2 months to submit to Blogger.
First post April 23, 2000 7:43 pm. Scroll up, I want you to read the entire page of posts--just to get a sense of my insanity.
I have to remember November--since then I can celebrate my 9th anniversary of needing to share my thoughts and soul with the World Wide Web. Maybe I'll have a contest or something... Labels: blog 10:25:00 PM -- Email --

"Green" Update and Socks
Perhaps I should post more pictures of the crazy things my kids get into--I broke my comments record. Perhaps introduce a "Mess of the Week" picture. Heck I should post a picture of the kids rooms--tornado alley indeed. Thank you to ALL that commented--I feel loved.
The very next day Lorelei got into my lipstick and smeared it all over her face, chest and bathroom counter. Another bath--grin--even that second bath didn't quite get the remnants of the green dye off...but I think finally today--she's green free.
Since y'all seem to like messy Lorelei pics--here's another one--from the first time she really got into my lipstick. She is standing in front of the one foot square smear of lipstick that now permanently graces my bathroom wall.
This weekend was fun--I went to my knitting group at the library and I finished my SOCKS!!!! Okay just one sock...but the sock that never ends is DONE! Knitty vanity--from multiple angles.
Sock stats:
Needles: size 0 DPNS-first Bates 7 inches then Brittany 6 inches.
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepard's Sock-one hank in Somerset.
Pattern: My own using the Universal Toe Up pattern from Knitty with Judy's Magic Cast On. The lace pattern is Little Arrowhead from Barbara Walker's Second Treasury AND my own adaptation. I used the very stretchy bind off. Basically the main sock was a multiple of 4, I increased two stitches for the lace and increased two more stitches once I got to the k2, p2 ribbing.
Love my knee socks-I was a very good knitter and cast on for the next sock the very next day (I had finished at 12.30 am on Saturday).
I also have yet another secret project in the works--soon to be unveiled. I am really excited and also very very nervous, "Will any one care??". Stay tuned for details and a launch.
Today I am in a bit of a mood--sigh. The world outside my door seems a very very violent and uncontrollable place right now and add into that my messy house that refuses to stay clean and you got a FEP mood. I intend to knit myself through this mood. Pfft. Labels: blog, Kid Antics, kid pics, knitting 3:00:00 PM -- Email --

10 Already?
Cnet (on MSN) says that this year is the 10th anniversary of the "blog"--perhaps. It's hard to define because I remember whn the term blog first came into use--when I alone of the people around me knew what blog was. Blog was a personal web site that was NOT a diary, but links of interesting places the writer of the blog went and his commentary. That was a blog. Oh and they put the additional qualifier that these entries must be in reverse chron.--not sure why...but it is.
Today a blog is any sort of on-line diary--written in reverse chron order. That I have been doing for 9 years--I remember with vague fondness FTPing at least three files when I posted--I love Blogger! (10 years ago I was to busy getting kicked in the teeth by Austin, TX and I had little time for the internet. You rarely see an actual blog they way they were back in the day. Only one I still frequent is Jason's kottke.org (sniff I miss osil8 though)--he and others inspired me to actually try to blog--share links and my thoughts about them. But as blogs themselves became more and more personal and less and less about sharing tons of links...I found myself being as egotistical and making my blog more of a diary than a blog. (Yes I am very egotistical--bloggers must be).
Now there are 100 million blogs and bloggers out there. There are A LOT of egotists out there are there. Labels: blog 10:27:00 AM -- Email --

Finicky
I finally finished the heel on my sock. I was struggling with it since Friday--mostly struggling with it last yesterday and today. STUPID double wrapped short rows!! I was incredibly frustrated...so I coded when I got too frustrated. I also whipped up some buttons in my PhotoDraw. There are a few inconsistencies with the heel, but all in all it's a functional heel and I am NOT going back. I'll meet the heel challenge when I knit the other sock.
I am just so glad the heel is done. It's all smooth sailing from here.

Tinkering
Glass Dog is back...back especially to the web design tutorials! Yea! I love Lance and he's a great teacher. Funny that he decided to to tutorials again just when I decided to to some major site remodeling. Now I can be all fancy--now that Lance is explaining it us us so simply.
For now--I added a list of the most recent posts. I've got some more blogger tinkering to do as well. I also added a button for my current obsession: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Yip--one hundred and thirty NINE days!!! And adults--many many adults are excited about it as well, not just kids. I kinda feel insulted. I honestly think that the Harry Potter books are fantastic pieces of writing--not only imaginative, but expertly crafted. The threads J.K has woven over these ten years...it boggles my mind. I challenge any one on this as well. Read these books and THEN tell me that these are just simple kids books.
So anyway--obsession rant done--expect new things to come to this site soon. Ya know when I can squeeze it in between knitting and child wrangling. Labels: blog, Obsessions 11:08:00 PM -- Email --

Busy Fingers
Spell check is my friend. Spell check is my friend. I am queen of typos. I type too fast and my fingers aren't the best at pressing the space bar or ya know hitting the right keys in the right order. Oh well. So far no one has blasted me with it--but I do realise that it does make reading my blog distracting. All in all I have very nice readers that are quite polite and civilised.
I am knitting today. I have a deadline and I want to make it for once. I owe a dear friend two years worth of Chrismtas presents and I am determined to have them mailed out this weekend. My fingers actually have callouses on them right now because of a rather sharp point on my favourite circular needle for hats. Once again the Knitting Bunny is nipping fingers and I wrote down a bunch of projects I want to get started.
My knitting goals for this year include, working on a UFO each month (getting it done!!), starting a new project as a reward (one one!!), and working throughout the year on Chrismtas presents...NOT waiting until November to start 10 knitted gifts. We shall see if they work out. Jamey's tired of bags on unfinished knitted objects.
Since at least one person wants my recipes (any more eh eh?)--I'll get to work putting them one the site. I am trying to think should I just toss up a bunch or be tricky and try to drive traffic and return visits, but adding one once a week. Perhaps making it an event and challenge people to make the dish and report back their thoughts on taste and ease of prep. Grin.
Watch out...this is not a knitting blog, it's not a food blog, it's not a Mommy Blog!! What is it!!! It's a Birdy Blog!! Dubh Croi--dark heart. A bit of everything. Labels: blog, food, knitting 1:20:00 PM -- Email --

Where my weird brain leads me
Yesterday while cooking dinner I actually melted part of my fingernail. I didn't notice this until I was going to bed. No,I didn't take a picture because I was too tired to fish out the camera, but what it did to more rather longer pinkie nail (I keep it long to dig wax out of the family's ears--yes it may be TMI but well it's my blog it's expected) was to bend it in a rather peculiar twisted shape that I knew would cause problems sleeping.
Thinking about my blighted fingernail while doing dishes today got me thinking. Should I post my recipes here? I love to cook--but strictly amateur home cooking. I am very proud of my semi- and total made from scratch dishes. (Especially my Birdy's Boston Baked Beans) Are you my dear readers interested in any of my recipes? I got French Onion soup that is quite tasty. My Creamy Roasted Potatoes and Chicken is my favourite comfort food--as is my Chicken Dumplings. Pancakes--I make terrific pancakes . Birdy's Beef a Roni and Tuna Casserole. And if you really like lot's of butter and onions, my pan friend potatoes with onions.
Interested? Leave some comments and I'll add some to the side bar. If not--well they'll remain all mine in my tattered binder and brain. Labels: blog 5:13:00 PM -- Email --

Fans of the Big Guys
Recently I have found (one through my comments--yea I got a new comment from a new person HI!!! The other formt he horse himself) two blogs that are essentially fan blogsof very popular blogs. It's interesting.
Doocecussion is a fan blog of Dooce, my favourite blog by Heather--commonly refered here as the Golden Goddess. It's just been started and I am interested to see where it goes. Dooce Fan comments on each entry and invites discussion on Heather's posts.
Kottke Komments is a site that is a complete RSS feed from Kottke.org, Jason's blog that I have been reading for years and years...ever since Austin II. This fan blog adds nothing to Jason's posts, BUT enables the comments--which I think is pretty nifty. In essence it only gets the raw rabid Jason fan who is willing to ake two trips to the essentially the same blog, just to write a comment.
So what are these blogs? Blog Fan Blogs? Kinda catchy. Labels: blog, Obsessions 6:19:00 PM -- Email --
